What we do

Private & family

You do not have to run a business to pay too much tax. For employees in Austria the annual assessment often returns what was over-withheld during the year – and for families, more depends on the deadlines than most people realise.

What this covers

Employee tax assessment

Austrian wage tax is withheld as though every year were even. As soon as yours was not – a change of job, parental leave, part-time work, two employments, or arriving or leaving mid-year – the withholding is wrong. On top of that come costs the withholding never sees: work-related expenses, extraordinary burdens, allowances for children. The claim (Arbeitnehmerveranlagung) can be made for several years retrospectively; in some cases filing is compulsory.

Employment and social insurance

The questions where tax and employment law meet: how a severance payment is treated, what applies on a mutually agreed termination, how a second job affects your insurance, when a contract for services creates compulsory insurance.

Parental leave and childcare benefit

Austrian childcare benefit (Kinderbetreuungsgeld) comes in several variants and the choice is binding. Which is better depends on income, the intended duration and how the parents divide it. Alongside that: the earnings limits, planning the return to work, and the tax side of the leave period.

How it runs

First meeting

You describe your situation, we tell you whether a claim is worth making and roughly what it comes to. If nothing comes of it, we say that too.

Records

Send what you have. We collect the rest through FinanzOnline – pay statements and many deductible items are already held by the tax office.

Filing and assessment

We file and check the assessment when it arrives. If it is wrong, we lodge an appeal within the deadline.

What to bring

For the assessment

Annual pay statements from every employer, receipts for work-related expenses and extraordinary burdens, and for children the details of family allowance and childcare costs.

Before parental leave

The expected income of both parents and how you intend to divide the leave. The earlier you ask, the more variants are still open.

Your contact

For this area, speak to us first – who looks after you is settled in the first meeting. Your contact then stays the same: you explain your situation once, not at every call. All four advisors.
