Privacy policy

How this website handles personal data – and, more to the point, how little of it there is. No cookies, no tracking, no advertising networks.

This is a courtesy translation. The legally binding version is the German one: Datenschutzerklärung. Where the two differ, the German text applies.

2. Principle

On its own, this website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising services. There is no contact form: if you want to write to us, you use your own email programme.

Because nothing is stored on your device and nothing is read from it, no consent under § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 is required, and there is no cookie banner. The one exception is the map, which only loads once you ask for it (section 5).

3. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. Calling up a page necessarily transmits technical data to the server: IP address, time, the page requested, referring page, browser and operating system. This is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is not combined with other data or used to identify you.

4. Contact by email

If you write to us, we process the content of your message and your contact details in order to answer it (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Where an engagement follows, the retention periods under professional and commercial law apply.

Please note that ordinary email is not an encrypted channel. For confidential documents, arrange a different route with us.

5. Map display (Google Maps)

The home page and the firm page offer a map of our location, provided by Google Maps, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The map is not loaded automatically: until you click “Load map”, no connection to Google is made and no cookie is set. Once you do, Google receives your IP address and browser details and may set and read cookies; if you are signed in to a Google account, Google can link the visit to it. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR). Legal basis: your consent by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 165(3) TKG 2021), valid for that page view only. Our address is given next to the map as text, so you do not need the map to find us.

6. Linked third-party services

We link to the calculation tools of the Federal Ministry of Finance. These are separate offerings with their own privacy policies. Following a link takes you out of our site, and we have no influence over the data processing there.

7. Retention

Server logs are deleted or anonymised after a short period. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to deal with the matter and thereafter for as long as statutory retention periods require – for engagements, generally seven years under § 132 of the Federal Fiscal Code.

8. Recipients of your data

We pass personal data to third parties only where this is legally required, necessary to perform an engagement, or where you have consented. Our hosting provider acts as a processor on our instructions.

9. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise them an informal message to office@wfs.or.at is sufficient.

10. Right to complain

If you consider that the processing of your data infringes data protection law, you may complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at

11. Changes to this policy

We adapt this policy when the website or the legal position changes. The current version is always the one published here.
