Privacy policy

How this website handles personal data – and, more to the point, how little of it there is. No cookies, no tracking, no advertising networks.

This is a courtesy translation. The legally binding version is the German one: Datenschutzerklärung. Where the two differ, the German text applies.

2. Principle

This website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising services. There is no contact form: if you want to write to us, you use your own email programme.

Because nothing is stored on your device and nothing is read from it, no consent under § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 is required, and there is no cookie banner.

3. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. Calling up a page necessarily transmits technical data to the server: IP address, time, the page requested, referring page, browser and operating system. This is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is not combined with other data or used to identify you.

4. Contact by email

If you write to us, we process the content of your message and your contact details in order to answer it (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Where an engagement follows, the retention periods under professional and commercial law apply.

Please note that ordinary email is not an encrypted channel. For confidential documents, arrange a different route with us.

5. Map display (OpenStreetMap)

The contact section embeds a map from OpenStreetMap. Loading it transmits your IP address to the OpenStreetMap Foundation in the United Kingdom, for which an adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR exists. OpenStreetMap sets no cookies, uses no advertising identifiers and builds no usage profiles. The map is loaded lazily, that is, only when it comes into view. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing our location (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

6. Linked third-party services

We link to the calculation tools of the Federal Ministry of Finance. These are separate offerings with their own privacy policies. Following a link takes you out of our site, and we have no influence over the data processing there.

7. Retention

Server logs are deleted or anonymised after a short period. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to deal with the matter and thereafter for as long as statutory retention periods require – for engagements, generally seven years under § 132 of the Federal Fiscal Code.

8. Recipients of your data

We pass personal data to third parties only where this is legally required, necessary to perform an engagement, or where you have consented. Our hosting provider acts as a processor on our instructions.

9. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise them an informal message to office@wfs.or.at is sufficient.

10. Right to complain

If you consider that the processing of your data infringes data protection law, you may complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at

11. Changes to this policy

We adapt this policy when the website or the legal position changes. The current version is always the one published here.
